Internships
Service learning internships promote the integration of didactic information from the classroom to current and emerging issues in public health. Most of the topics we address arise in response to locally identified needs to make a difference in north Florida’s rural and underserved communities.
Community and academic partners, administrators, educators, and clinicians submit project ideas throughout the year. The internship may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis for course or internship credit. Students are also urged to consider professional publication about their project, if appropriate. A list of
publications and presentations is available for review.
Students are responsible for providing reliable and safe transportation to project sites. Participating organizations include county health departments, schools, rural hospitals and clinics, health practitioners, college and university faculty, and community-based health agencies. Each project has a dedicated on-site
preceptor that directs learning experiences and mentors professional development.
