Suwannee River AHEC is pleased to partner with a variety of organizations, higher academic institutions and other advocates for public health to offer access to free continuing education programs. These programs are supported through various funding sources including educational grants. Below is a listing of each CE Video and important instructions that are needed for program feedback and the issuance of continuing education credits. Asthma and Nutrition Program presented by Ellen K. Bowser, MS, RD, LD/N
The Asthma and Nutrition training module was developed by the University of Florida Pediatric Pulmonary Center. This online course is designed to provide the most recent information on asthma and nutrition that may be used by health professionals who work with children with asthma. It was designed for Florida WIC nutritionists and Nutrition Educators but is appropriate for other health professionals who work with children with asthma. By the end of this training, participants will be able to;identify and dispel common myths about asthma and nutrition;identify common medications prescribed to children with asthma and drug nutrient interactions for each ;and state three hypotheses for why overweight/obesity may worsen asthma.

The University of Florida Pediatric Pulmonary Center is funded by MCHB/HRSA to provide professional development/continuing education at no or low cost to health organizations and agencies around HHS Region IV on topics related to Pediatric Pulmonary and Maternal and Child Health. The following video trainings are a part of our efforts to provide quality, relevant trainings to a variety of health care practitioners. In collaboration with the Florida Cancer Control and Research Advisory Council and the Florida Department of Health, we are presenting the following video presentations that provide professional education for healthcare providers relative to cancer risks.
The following are pre-recorded presentations that were originally broadcast as a live webinar in October and May of 2011. This first presentation featuring two expert speakers will address the gap in knowledge between breast density and cancer risk citing recent research and the second presenter discusses the Obesity epidemic, and the knowledge gap about the relationship between obesity, cancer risk, and cancer treatment implications.
The target audience would include doctors, nurses other healthcare providers, public health educators, community-based and faith-based organizations and any interested parties. This video presentation is eligible for 1.0 CE and CME credits for the following disciplines: Physicians and (1,2) as referenced in the CE discipline list.
