Documentary Videography
Florida ranks third for the number of persons living with HIV disease. To address this issue, and in collaboration with local partners, we are producing four short documentary films about managing sex in an HIV world. The 'Stories of Hope' project will share positive messages about sensitive subjects like sex, HIV treatment and care, and men who have sex with men. We are currently recruiting participants willing to talk on camera. Do you know someone who has a story to tell? Read More...

I recently attending the Quit Smoking Now 6-week program offered in Gainesville. I'm writing to thank the Suwannee River AHEC for offering this cost-free program... I have been a non-smoker for over 3 weeks with the help of this program. The group counseling is a really effective approach and the provision of nicotine replacement (patches for me) has been very helpful...The information provided in the manual is thought provoking and the sets of recommended strategies have been super helpful. I feel much more equipped to stay quit this time than I was on previous quit attempts.

I'm so glad that we had Manette as the counselor at our site/for this series; she is fantastic! Her non-judgmental and understanding tone were comforting and her insights into addiction and human behavior were impressive. She struck a good balance between letting us share with each other and relaying information/strategies.

Thanks again for offering this program! Read More...
